Type of art:

Art can be provided as original art to be scanned. A black and white copy of artwork can also be used. Camera-ready art should be “butt-registered”. Art can be sent in on Mac format  floppy disk,  100MB zip drive or CD Rom. Concept art can be provided by T.S. Designs. It is best to have a detailed description of the artwork or effect desired.

Computer Specifications:

We can accept Macintosh-formatted disks. The applications we work with are Photoshop 7, Freehand 10, and Illustrator CS files.  Photoshop files should be saved as TIFF’s, EPS’s, or PSD’s. In order to hold detail and the integrity of the design, a resolution of 300 dpi is required. If a layered file is available, include it as well. Illustrator and Freehand files should be in EPS format. Original copies of placed or linked files should be submitted with the file. When type is used please convert to paths or create an outline. If this is not possible, include a font suitcase. All process colors, unless printing in 4 color process, should be converted to spot colors if possible. PMS colors should be given as a matching standard. Include color printout if possible.

All art should have the following specified whenever possible:

  • Art should be actual size to be printed or specify any percentages of increase or reduction to artwork so that it works within our production standards, which are: Full Front and Full Back - 15″ x 17″:, Left Chest - 4″ x 4″, cap print - 4″x2″, and sleeve print - 3.5″ across, wraparound 17″ wide.

  • Specify color of fabric and size of garment to be printed on (youth, adult, maternity, etc…).

  • Specify standard print positions which include sleeve prints (right or left), Left Chest, Full Front, Full Back, leg print (right or left), pocket neck label.

  • Standard point of reference for print placement should be in inches over from center of shirt and the distance from the neck seam to the top of the print.

  • Orientation of print should be given as horizontal, vertical, or diagonal.

  • Specify any desired type styles and trademarks to be included in the design. If revisions are foreseeable include typestyle suitcases. If the design is approved, type should be converted to outlines or paths, which leaves the type uneditable.

  • Registration marks should be oriented around center lines.

  • Number of inks used should be given as well as PMS color codes. Only 2 specialty inks may be used in a single print - jewel tone, glitter, puff metallic, crystalina.

  • A number of different designs from the same customer should be coded, in some way, for distinction.
