As the founder of Emerger Strategies, Rick leads a consultancy that provides businesses with the tools to develop sustainability strategies. His team assesses both the environmental and social impacts of the operations, products, and packaging. In addition to managing the consultancy, Rick hosts The Sustainable Angler podcast, inspiring anglers to protect the planet while pursuing their passion. Join us in celebrating Rick’s impact!
Love for Outdoors
Rick’s commitment to sustainability earned him recognition as one of the 50 most influential people by the Charleston Business Magazine in 2022. His passion for the environment is fueled by his love for the outdoors, fishing, and beautiful places. During his time in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Rick discovered his love for fly fishing, which motivated him to pursue a career in his passion. He earned an MBA in sustainable business from Marylhurst University and spent over a decade working towards a sustainable future by installing solar panels, manufacturing biodiesel fuel, and contributing to green-building projects.
Recently, Rick founded the Fly Fishing Alliance, which consists of guides, shops, lodges, brands, and nonprofits that are committed to having net-zero emissions by 2050. All in all, Rick strongly believes in meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to thrive.
