Frequently Asked Questions

What makes TS Designs’ t-shirts special?

Our t-shirts are made to last, support ethical manufacturing, and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Quality: Made with 100% US-grown ring-spun cotton, our shirts are ultra-soft, durable, and pill-resistant for years of wear. This compares with some brands that offer only open end or air jet yarns, resulting in a rougher hand and less durable fabric.

Fabric: Cotton costs 25% more than fossil-fuel-based fabrics, but we’re committed to 100% natural fibers, down to the thread. Our Cotton of the Carolinas shirts use cotton locally sourced from a farmer who we negotiate fair pricing with.

Eco-Friendly Printing & Garment Dye on Demand: Unlike traditional screen printing, our REHANCE™ process embeds the design into the fabric for a soft, long-lasting print without using plastisol and fossil-fuel-based inks. After printing, each shirt is garment dyed, therefore it will be fully preshrunk and broken-in for a vintage, ultra-soft feel from day one. This process took us years to develop and is only available at TS Designs.

Transparent Supply Chain: Only 2% of garment workers worldwide earn a living wage. We source every step domestically, ensuring fair pay and full supply chain transparency.

How much do your t-shirts cost?

At TS Designs, our triple bottom line business model means every decision we make considers what’s best for people and the planet. That’s why our shirts may cost more—but they’re made to last, support ethical manufacturing, and contribute to a more sustainable future. How do we demonstrate our journey focused on People + Planet?

B-Corp Status: TS Designs was the first company in NC to become a certified B Corp in 2008, and are the longest standing apparel B Corp, verified to meet higher standards of transparency, accountability, and performance.

Completely Transparent and Trackable Supply Chain: We developed Where Your Clothing which allows you to know exactly where your t-shirt was grown and made. Whether it’s our Cotton of the Carolinas or Coastal Cotton line, the neck label of each shirt contains a QR code that allows you to know where your shirt was during each step of the supply chain, including the farmer that grew the cotton! Solid State Clothing also provides complete transparency.

Research and Development: We consistently perform R&D. Our focuses include our complete Dirt to Shirt™ made-in-the-USA manufacturing supply chains and natural fibers such as cotton and hemp. We develop garment dyeing techniques encompassing reactive and natural dyes. We consistently strive for the importance of transparency of supply chain and putting the farmer first by including them in the process.
