We are encouraged to see more people focusing on how to return to sustainable processes within the apparel industry. There’s a group working on funding right now in order to bring a organization to the New York area that will “be the country’s first fashion design AND production incubator. Inspired by the best of the social change accelerators & coworking spaces for creative entrepreneurs, it will allow for local fashion designers to also have the opportunity to conceive, develop, and manufacture their own lines right here in the United States.”

This kind of focus challenges the apparel industry to consider what “Made in USA” really means.

TS Designs has worked hard to create and maintain the Cotton of the Carolinas project, which pushes the boundaries for creating a transparent supply chain for a “dirt to shirt” process. We literally provide a t-shirt that can be tracked to the farm. You can join us during harvest and meet the farmer who grew the cotton that we used to make your t-shirt. It doesn’t get any more sustainable than that.

It’s the constant drive to re-connect with our local communities that will help us come to real and sustainable solutions.
