On Thursday, we took Erin and Jen on a roadtrip to eastern NC to meet Brian Morrell of Mortex Apparel.

Mortex Apparel was founded in 1984 by Ed Morrell, Brian’s father. It caters largely to the college market, delivering a quality product quickly and efficiently.

In 2005, Ed and Brian took a leap of faith and began working with TS Designs on its then-experimental organic cotton project: the TSD Organic t-shirt line. In fact, we aren’t kidding when we call it a “leap of faith:” Ed ordered 20,000 pounds of organic cotton without even waiting for a Purchase Order to be written up.

Since then, TS Designs and Mortex have become partners in their sustainable mission, including Cotton of the Carolinas.

It’s a real pleasure to work as a team on creating the highest quality, most sustainable t-shirt options available. Each segment of creation is done with care and pride in the final product – it doesn’t get much better than that.
